The Old India restaurant, 34 St Nicholas Street is in the former Bristol Stock Exchange - listed
grade 2* building, small-ish room, ceiling 24+ feet above your head, ornate pillars, and
impressive - with wonderful Mughal food.
Jaipuri chicken was superb. Well worth a visit - in fact, went twice in a month (Jan 2004).
Checked it again in April 2005 - just as good as before, and the Indian members of our team,
including a vegetarian who goes to bits of the menu that I rarely see, said the food was
excellent.
The surroundings and the food make this well worth a visit.
In less impressive surroundings (13 Small Street) but with very extensive menu and seemingly
a little cheaper, Spice of India offers an attractive selection including special lamb chops
(starter or main), honey chicken, and chicken or lamb chilli garlic massala. Good food.
